The popularity of print medium as an efficient way of disseminating information to many different kinds of individuals is great & famous even in the present days. With the passing of time the printing services industry has become big vastly & has evolved to its present form of a diversified industry. Today it can address almost any demand of the customers affiliated with printing & its ancillary requirements.

Bulk printing services first began sometime in the–00’s when Gutenberg invented the first printing press and the whole concept of relief printing was developed. A slight projection of the printed matter from the background, like in a rubber stamp, is a key characteristic of relief printing. This type of printing has however become a rarity nowadays, though not completely obsolete.

Technology has always been a driving force behind changes in printing techniques that have been embraced down the years. There are various kinds of printing methods available today and each has its own use. The mind-boggling diversity of available options in printing methods in fact greatly confuses the clients.

Of all printing methods in the market today, offset printing tops the list in popularity. In this technique, the image is transmitted onto paper from a metal plate on which the image is first printed by the use of limited amount of ink. This method is most suitable for mass printing, as it is both faster and lesser expensive than other methods in the market.

Other printing methods that have come up with advancements in technology are electrostatic printing, which is akin to photocopying, and thermal printing, which uses a system of selective heating of layered thermal paper.

However, digital printing is the newest printing technique that is getting a lot of popularity. As is clear from its name it makes use of a computer to develop an image, which is then previewed and if found to be faultless, printed onto paper. But this fast and trustworthy method works best in situations where only a small number of prints is needed. The possibility of customized printing with this technique has led to computer form printing, where a standard format is used to print documents like receipts and invoices whose contents vary in tune with the different requirements of each print.

Another significant development in printing has dawned with the advent of the internet. Most printing firms have their own websites that allow customers to easily place orders and study designs and samples, without them having to walk or drive all the way to the firm’s premises for this purpose.

Printing has always taken giant evolutionary leaps with the advancement in technology. The best part about this trend is that it will continue well into the future and keep enhancing the performance and cost effectiveness of printing services.
